Most importantly, barley chapati or barley flat bread/ barley roti is an ancient ayurvedic recipe. Barley is one of the healthiest grain, which is highly recommended in Ayurveda. Mainly, it contains all the essential nutrients that are vital for maintaining optimal health. Hence barley is called the “king of cereals” for all the right seasons.

  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1 cup barley flour
  • 2 tbsp ghee
  • 1 tsp salt
  • warm water as needed

Instructions

How To Make Barley Chapati:

  • Firstly in a large mixing bowl, add whole wheat and barley flour. Then add salt.
  • Crumble the mixture well. Next by adding little warm water at a time, mix the mixture well.
  • Then knead well to make a soft dough. 
  • Also add 1 tbsp of ghee and again knead it to make a smooth dough.
  • Now rest the dough for 20 to 30 mins. Take a small portion from the dough and make it into small ball shape.
  • Place the dough on a chapati maker and dust it with little flour.
  • Next roll it into thin chapati and keep it aside.
  • Meanwhile heat a tawa and place the rolled chapati.
  • Flip over both sides and then smear ghee or oil both sides.
  • Then roast well both sides until you get a small dark brown spots.
  • Take out this chapati to a plate.
  • Now the healthy, nutritious barley chapati is ready to enjoy.
  • Serve with chutney, curry or curd.
