Basically, chutney powder is made with lentils. But here I replace lentils with nutrient rich superfood Flaxseed. This amazing chutney powder is not only tasty, but also healthy with many benefits.
Here along with flax seed, dried orange peels are used for a nice aromatic flavor and a tangy taste. Adding dried arrange peels to these kind of chutney powder enhances the taste and activates the taste buds.

Flax seed chutney powder | Flaxseed chutney powder | Health benefits of flax seed
Ingredients
- 1 cup flax seeds
- 1 tbsp cumin
- 1/4 cup Dry coconut(kopra)
- 20 to 25 dry orange peel
- lemon size tamarind
- 25 to 30 curry leaves
- 1 tsp oil
- 6 to 8 dry chilies
- 1/4 tsp hing
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp jaggery
Instructions
- Heat the pan and add flax seeds, dry roast for 5 mins until it splutter and keep it aside.
- Add cumin, shredded dry coconut, dry orange peel, tamarind, curry leaves to heating pan and dry roast all the above ingredients separately and keep it aside.
- Add 1 tsp of oil to a heating pan and add dry chilies, roast for 1 min and turn off the flame.
- Now add all the roasted dry ingredients to a pan, add hing and mix well. once the roasted mixture cools down. transfer this to a blender, add salt and jaggery.
- Make a fine powder and store the chutney powder in an air tight box.
- Now the healthy flax seed chutney powder is ready to eat. Eat with dosa, idli, roti or even with hot steamed rice with a little ghee or oil and enjoy.
