Hingvashtak Churna or Hingwashtak Churna is an age old ayurvedic remedy for all stomach issues. It is a best Ayurvedic medicine for indigestion and gas problem, bloating and abdominal pain. Most importantly it is an ancient digestive powder. Also here the main ingredient is “hing”, along with 8 ancient spices of India. Further “Ashta Churnam” is the another name for this medicine.
Furthermore Hing or hingu means ‘asafoetida’ and Ashta means 8 indicating this product contains 8 ingredients. And Churna means powder. Hence the powdered form of all these ingredients called ‘Hingvashtak Churna’.
Moreover this digestive powder helps to digest the body toxins (AMA) and prevents its accumulation. In Ayurvedic practice, hingvashtak churna is one of the most effective remedy to relieve indigestion and also it soothes the gastrointestinal tract. Thus it increases the digestive function. Most important thing is, hing plays the major role in this churna. It has an innumerable digestive boosting properties.
In addition hingvashtak churna is excellent for vata and kapha doshas. Where as it increases pitta dosha. So one should be careful while consuming this churna, if they have high pitta dosha.
Trikatu – Black pepper, Long Pepper, Dry Ginger
Ajmoda – Ajowan or Ajwain
Saindhava Lavana – Black Salt
Shweta Jeeraka – White Cumin Seeds
Krishna Jeeraka – Black Cumin seeds
Hing – Asafoetida
Ghee – Clarified Butter
Mix 1/4 tsp or 1 to 2 grams of this churna with ghee (clarified butter) and take this as a first bolus of food or before taking food twice or thrice a day.
