Here is a Kashaya powder for immunity and also soothing recipe for kashayam. Ayurvedic kadha is a healthy herbal drink with innumerable benefits. It is a best kashayam for cough and cold. 

Kashaya powder is an ancient ayurvedic herbal powder which is used to make Kashayam. Basically it is a powder form of ayurvedic roots, herbs and spices. Kashayam offers incredible health benefits.

Further, Ayurvedic kadha powder can be prepared easily at home, but it needs some special and rare ingredients. Here I have used 18 different herbs, roots and spices which gives nice flavor and with unique healing powers. 

Kashaya Powder Recipe Ingredients

  1. Coriander seeds
  2. Cumin
  3. Fennel seeds
  4. Black pepper
  5. Long pepper/hippali/pippali
  6. Licorice/mulethi/jeshta madhu
  7. Dry ginger
  8. Carom seeds
  9. Caraway seeds
  10. Fenugreek seeds
  11. Cinnamon
  12. Nutmeg
  13. Mace/japatre
  14. Cloves
  15. Green and Black cardamom
  16. Turmeric powder
  17. Ashwagandha powder
  18. Guduchi powder/amrutha balli powder

You could use all these ingredients if available to prepare kashaya powder. If not, can also be made with whatever the ingredients you have at your kitchen. 

Once you prepare kashaya powder, then preparing kashayam is very easy. Just boil water with kashaya powder and jaggery, brew it for few minutes and then add milk at the end. Now the traditional hot brew is ready to sip.

Moreover, this traditional hot beverage kashyam is very tasty and a soothing drink especially in winter season to keep our body warm and  it is a simple way to get rid of infections, cough, cold & flu symptoms naturally without any side effects. Surely, kashaya is a healthy alternative to coffee or tea and it is caffeine free. Regular consumption of this kashaya helps to boost immunity & flush out the toxins from the body.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup coriander seeds
  • 1/4 cup cumin
  • 1/4 cup fennel seeds
  • 1/4 cup black pepper
  • 8 to 10 long pepper / hippali / pippali
  • 3 to 4 licorice / yashtimadhu root crushed
  • 1 piece dry ginger crushed
  • 1 tbsp carom seeds / ajwain
  • 1 tbsp caraway seeds
  • 1 tsp fenugreek seeds
  • 6 to 8 strands cinnamon
  • 1/2 nutmeg crushed
  • 1/2 tsp japatre
  • 10 to 12 cloves
  • 4 to 6 green & black cardamom
  • 1 tbsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tbsp ashwagandha powder
  • 1 tbsp guduchi /amrutha balli powder

Instructions

How to make kashaya powder

  • Take a blender jar and add coriander seeds, cumin, fennel seeds and black pepper
  • Further add long pepper, crushed mulethi and dry ginger
  • Also add carom seeds, caraway seeds, fenugreek seeds
  • Again add cinnamon, crushed nutmeg, japatre, and cloves
  • Additionally add cardamom, turmeric powder, ashwagandha powder and guduchi powder
  • Blend all the ingredients to a powder form
  • Now homemade kashaya powder is ready!
  • Store this in an airtight glass jar with lid and further use it!

Making of kashaya using kashaya powder:

  • Heat a sauce pan on moderate flame and add 2 cups of water
  • Add 2 tbsp of jaggery and 1/2 tsp of prepared kashaya powder
  • Mix well and bring it to a boil for 3 to 4 mins
  • Then turn off heat and add milk
  • Finally give a good mix and serve to a glass jar
  • Now healthy immunity booster kashaya is ready to serve!
  • Enjoy this healthy drink as an alternative to coffee or tea!
