Dates laddu recipe with licorice helps in soothing GI tract.  Acid Reflux is a digestive disease in which stomach acid or bile irritates the food pipe lining. It is a common condition that features a burning pain, known as heartburn, in the lower chest area, often after eating. Acid reflux occur when the lower esophageal sphincter (LES) fails to close completely. Mainly the LES seals food, and acid that breaks down food, in the stomach. If the LES doesn’t close completely, the stomach acid can travel back up the esophagus. This causes a burning sensation called “heartburn” in the lower chest area, after eating food.

Sometimes if the symptoms of acid reflux occurs frequently, then it can lead to gastroesophageal reflux disease, commonly called as ‘GERD’. If the person experiences symptoms of acid reflux more than twice a week to few weeks, then they may have GERD.

Most importantly as per Ayurveda, Licorice is a strong ayurvedic medicine, used to treat acid reflex. Licorice is also known as “Jeshtamadhu or Yashtimadhu” and “athimadhura” in Kannada. Further several studies proved that, licorice is effective to increase the mucous coating of the esophageal lining, and has natural stomach healing properties, which can help to reduce your acid reflux symptoms.

You can use licorice for acid reflux in two ways. Either by drinking licorice tea, by brewing licorice root or powder in water, then strain and consume it. Ingredients

  • ¾ cup pitted dates finely chopped
  • ¼ cup fine rava / semolina
  • 1 tbsp ghee / clarified butter
  • 1 tbsp raisins finely chopped
  • 1 tsp licorice powder/Jeshtamadhu or Yashtimadhu

Instructions

How To Make Dates Licorice Balls For Acid Reflux:

  • Firstly take a small blender and add the finely chopped pitted dates.
  • Blend this mixture to a coarse paste and keep it aside.
  • In the meantime heat a thick bottomed kadai or pan and fine rava / semolina.
  • Dry roast rava for 2 to 3 minutes and transfer this to a plate. 
  • Next to the same pan add ghee.
  • Once the ghee is melted, add blended dates paste.
  • Saute well this for 2 to 3 mins until ghee combines well with dates paste.
  • Then add finely chopped raisins and licorice powder and give a good mix.
  • Further simmer the heat add roasted rava and mix it again. 
  • Make sure that dates and rava combines well. Turn off the heat.
  • Allow to cool this for a minute. Grease a palm with little ghee and shape it into small balls when it is slightly touchable temperature.
  • Now the healing acid reflux balls are ready to enjoy!
  • Take one dates licorice balls after food. Continue this for atleast 48 days for best result.
