Hariyali paneer tikka is a simple, good starter or snack recipe. Firstly, for making paneer tikka masala recipe, Indian cottage cheese/paneer is to be marinated in green herbs like mint and coriander leaves, with curd and other Indian spices. Then grill it in oven or tandoor or simple roast it in hot grill pan. Most importantly mint/pudina and coriander leaves paste is added for the extra flavor and good color. Hence it is named as ‘hariyali paneer tikka’. Hariyali means greenery.

Furthermore it is one of the most popular vegetarian starter in restaurants serving in North Indian cuisine. This is a delicious, tasty hariyali paneer tikka, that is made in grill pan or in tawa. Even more there are different varieties of paneer tikka. Among them hariyali paneer tikka is one such variation. This is easy to make. Certainly all age groups, from kids to elders will like this paneer starter. Usually it is served with green chutney and sweet tamarind chutney. Also serve this as a starter with any North Indian meal. Therefore it is good snack or starter for party or at evening time.

Hariyali paneer tikka is a simple, tasty starter or snack based recipe. This is the marination of green herbs like mint and coriander leaves along with curd and other spices. It is one of the most popular vegetarian starter in the restaurants. Easy to make and tastes delicious.

Ingredients

  • 250 gm/0.5 lb Paneer (low fat) cut into 1 inch cubes
  • 1/2 cup Onion cut into 1 inch cubes
  • 1 Tomato deseeded and cut into 1 inch cubes
  • 1 cup Bell Pepper (Green, Red, Yellow, Orange) deseeded and cut into 1 inch cubes
  • 1/2 cup Sweet Potato or regular Potatoes cut into thick slices
  • 1 tsp Paprika/Red Chilli powder
  • 3/4 tsp Salt
  • 2 tbsp Oil

For Marinade

  • 1/2 cup Mint leaves
  • 1/2 cup Coriander leaves
  • 1/2 cup Spinach/Palak leaves
  • Green Chilli as per spicy level
  • 3 cloves Garlic
  • 3 small piece Ginger
  • 1 tbsp Yogurt low fat
  • 1/4 cup Besan/Gram flour
  • 1 tsp Fennel powder
  • 1 tsp Cumin powder
  • 1/2 tsp Coriander powder
  • 1 tsp Chat Masala powder
  • 2 tbsp Butter Milk or Curd as needed for consistency
  • 1 tsp Sugar
  • 1 tsp Lemon Juice
  • 1/2 tsp Black Pepper powder
  • 1/2 tsp kasoori methi

Instructions

Preparation For Paneer Tikka:

  • Firstly cut the paneer into 1 inch cubes and keep it aside. Similarly cut onion, tomato, and colored bell peppers into cubes.
  • Now arrange the panner cubes on a plate. Sprinkle paprika/red chilli powder and salt. Coat the paneer with salt and paprika properly and keep it aside. Meanwhile, we prepare the green paste for marination of paneer and vegetables.

Making of green paste for marinade:

  • Take a blender or jar and add mint, coriander leaves and spinach. Furthermore add green chilli, garlic, ginger,curd, and salt.
  • Add little water & blend this mixture to a smooth paste.

Making of hariyali panner tikka marination:

  • In a large bowl, transfer the blended green paste. 
  • Now add besan/gram flour and spices like fennel powder, cumin powder, coriander powder and chat masala. And also add kasoori methi, sugar, lemon juice and crushed black pepper.
  • Give it a good mix. Now the green marinade is ready.
  • Transfer the paneer cubes to marinade & gently coat with the green paste both sides.
  • Also keep this coated paneer for minimum 20 to 30 mins at room temperature or couple of hours in the refrigerator
  • Similarly to the green paste, add all the veggies like onion cubes and tomato. Likewise add bell peppers (Red, Green, Yellow and Orange) and sweet potato cubes.
  • Mix every thing well and keep it aside.
  • Meanwhile soak the wooden skewers in water for 5 minutes. Because to avoid burning while cooking paneer and veggies.
  •  After marination, insert the marinated paneer cubes and all veggies alternatively into the skewers.
  • Furthermore heat a grill pan or tawa on medium flame and sprinkle oil all around.
  • Place the skewers on the tawa and roast both sides. Make sure you have to turn it all sides until it is perfectly cooked.
  • Now the tasty, yummy hariyali paneer tikka is ready to serve!
  • Serve this with a green chutney or sweet tamarind chutney and enjoy.
