Vangibath powder is a simple, traditional recipe of south India especially in Karnataka. Basically it can be prepared by dry roasting the lentils and Indian spices. Most importantly Indian spices are known for their nice aroma and gives unique taste to the recipe.

Furthermore, you can easily make this vangibath powder at home whenever needed. Nowadays you can see ready made vangibath powders are available in every groceries, but it can’t beat the freshness and nice aroma of homemade vangibath powder.

Further, we use this powder for making vangibath (brinjal bath) recipe. Usually vangibath recipe is made from brinjal or egg plant, But you can also make delicious vangibath using vegetables like  capsicum, cabbage, cluster beans etc.

Moreover, you can use this vangibath powder as multipurpose masala powder for making vegetable stir fry, dry fries, masala bath and vegetable bath of rice or rava, masala upma. It enhances the flavor and taste of the recipe which we added.

vangibath powder is a simple, authentic recipe of south India. Basically it can be prepared by dry roasting lentils, along with Indian spices. It gives good aroma. This vangibath powder is easy to make in home.

Ingredients

  • 1 tsp oil
  • 1/4 cup chana dal
  • 1/4 cup urad dal
  • 1/2 cup coriander seeds (dhaniya)
  • 3 small pieces cinamon sticks
  • 4 to 6 cloves
  • 2 small pieces star anise
  • 1 tbsp poppy seeds
  • 6 to 8 dry chillies

Instructions

  • Heat a pan and add oil.
  • Add chana dal and urad dal.
  • Saute well on a low medium flame for 5 mins until they are golden brown.
  • Now add the spices like cinnamon, cloves, star anise and poppy seeds.
  • Fry for 2 to 3 mins until you get a nice aroma of the spices
  • Similarly add coriander seeds.
  • Saute well for one minute.
  • Furthermore add dry chillies.
  • Fry again for 1 minute and turn off the heat.
  • Now cool down the mixture completely.
  • Transfer this mixture to a blender and make a fine powder.
  • Home made Vangibath powder is ready now. Store this in an air tight bottle or glass jar.
  • You can use this powder as a multipurpose masala powder for making palyas, bath and stir fry.
