Murungai keerai kootu | Nugge soppu recipes | Drumstick leaves dal | Recipes with moringa leaves
Ingredients
- 1 tsp chana dal
- 1 tsp coriander seeds
- 1 tsp cumin
- ½ cup grated coconut
- 1 red chilli
- 2 tbsp coconut oil
- ½ tsp mustard
- ¼ tsp turmeric powder
- ½ tsp hing
- 5 curry leaves
- ¼ cup onion
- ¼ cup tomato
- 1 cup moringa leaves
- 1 cup moong dal cooked
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp jaggery
- ¼ tsp monkey jack powder (vate huli powder)
Instructions
- Firstly, take a blender jar and add chana dal, coriander seeds, cumin seeds, grated coconut and red chili with little water
- Blend this to a smooth paste and keep it aside
- Meantime, heat a pan on moderate flame and add coconut oil
- Once the oil is hot enough, add mustard seeds, cumin, turmeric powder, hing and curry leaves
- Sauté for a min until mustard and cumin seeds splutters
- Next add finely chopped onion and tomatoes, sauté well until tomatoes are mushy
- Likewise add moringa leaves and again sauté it until the leaves wilted
- Then add cooked moong dal and blended paste
- Along with, add salt, jaggery and monkey jack powder
- Mix everything well and bring to boil for 2 to 3 mins, turn off heat
- Finally, nutritious side dish murugai keerai kootu is ready to serve!
