This Bhindi ki chutney is used as a side dish with Idli, chapati, roti, dosa or any breakfast recipes. It also goes well with hot rice with a spoonful of coconut oil or ghee or you can definitely use it as a spread for sandwich or as a dip with snack.
While making ladies finger chutney make sure that they are soft & tender. The matured okra will not be good for making chutney. So always use tender bhindi for making any recipes using bhindi as main ingredient.

Bendekayi chutney| Ladies finger chutney | Bhindi chutney | Chutney for dosa
Ingredients
- 2 Okara/Bhindi chopped, use soft, tender okra
- 1/2 green chilli
- 1/2 cup grated coconut
- 1 tbsp fried gram
- 2 to 3 ginger slices
- 2 to 3 coriander leaves with stem
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 tsp coconut oil
- 1/2 tsp mustard
- 1/2 tsp cumin
- 1/2 tsp hing (asafoetida)
- 3 curry leaves
Instructions
How to make Okra/ Bhindi chutney:
- Heat a small frying pan over low to medium flame and add coconut oil.
- Once the oil gets heated, add green chilli and chopped okra. While using okra make sure that, it should be soft and tender.
- Saute for 2 to 3 mins and turn off the heat. Allow this to cool completely.
- Now transfer this to a blender.
- Also add grated coconut, fried gram, ginger slices and coriander leaves along with its stem.
- Similarly add salt and little water.
- Grind this to a fine paste and transfer this mixture to a bowl. keep it aside. Mean while we prepare the tempering for chutney.
- Heat a tempering ladle and add little coconut oil.
- Once the oil is enough heated, add mustard, cumin, hing and curry leaves.
- Saute well until it splutters and turn off the heat.
- Then transfer this tempering to the prepared okra chutney and give it a good mix.
- Now the lip smacking okra chutney is ready to serve!
- Serve this okra chutney as a side dish with chapati, roti, dosa and even good with hot rice also.
